2017~2024 CX-5 Head up Display Disappearing

Hi guys,

I have a Mazda CX-5 Akera 2017. The head up display completely disappears on a very sunny day in summer, especially when I am driving west (directly facing the sun), and it does get really hot and sunny in summer here. It starts fading off, then it completely disappears before coming back on again. It keeps doing this until I change the direction I am driving in (not facing the sun).
I have tried talking to the dealer last summer who wasn't keen to know about it.

Anyone else experienced this issue?

By any chance, are you wearing polarized sun glasses?

Should be covered under warranty so let Mazda fix your situation. If your dealership doesn't want to look at it take it to another or call Mazda head office.

Seems like an issue with the ambient dimming sensor.

Thanks guys,
I will talk to the dealer again or Mazda Australia if need be and see what they reckon.

Fingers crossed that it*s something fixable and not a technology flaw. I know lcds can get wonky when heated up. Try it on a crappy calculator sometime, it*s weird. Screen returns to normal when it cools. The heat closes pixels on things like monitor screens and makes it *black*. I hope that isn*t the case here
