Mazda 2
Hi! First time poster here, planning to buy a used Mazda 2.

I added three pictures to https://photos.app.goo.gl/ySs36CegYf2Y38jz7, where I found odd marks on the car:

One is the base plate. It's covered in some rubbery substance. Is that standard rust protection, or is it maybe used to cover a rusty plate?

Other is in the trunk, after opening the small bin on the right. The weld points seem to be covered with a rubbery paint. This seems very odd. I fear it might cover some rust or welding?

Last is again the rear bottom left of base plate of the car. There seems to be some rubbery substance in a line. Maybe it's welding after some prior accident?

Maybe I'm paranoid, but better do my checks. I'll also ask the seller, but want to have some independent opinion. Thanks a lot!

That all looks normal to me. Car manufacturers put seam sealer on joints between panels, as those panels may only need spot welds to hold them together (the sealer makes the joint watertight).
