Rear sway bar options for 1st generation CX-5

For AWD: Hardrace (also resold and branded as Megan Racing), Ultra Racing, Corksport. They still sell the rear sway bar for the gen3 mazda 3 which is the same bar they were selling for the CX-5 (I have it) might need to contact them.

Response from Corksport
The CX-5 Swaybar didn't sell very well at all so we discontinued it.

It is possible that it could work. However, it would more then likely have to be a FWD one and would take some serious dedication to make it work properly IF it was possible.

I still don't know what the difference is if any between the Mazda 3 bar and the CX-5 AWD bar.

I did notice that the bar for the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 have the same instructions as well as possibly the same part number and if you look at the bar JBR sells it has the same part number for all 3 but it specifies 2wd only. So the email fromb Corksport doesn't tell me what difference if any there is between the CX-5 bar and the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 bars

The JBR is designed in such away it wont fit around the rear diff.. which is why it's FWD only. The Cork sport is stepped on both sides, as are the other ones. Looking at the corkpsort website now, the bar listed for the 3/6 looks exactly like the one they've been selling, and the one I have.. \_(*)_/ You can always go on www.buyhardrace.com (Florida based vendor) and get a quote for any hardrace P/N. Here is the hardrace catalogue http://www.hardrace.com/VEHICLE_Search.asp?Car_Make=12&Car_model=145&Car_Type=288&x=49&y=10 You can compare that to prices you find on other brands as well. Also Ultraracing.my (Catalogue only, gotta find a vendor/ebay seller to buy)

If you include the billet mounts corksport is a little cheaper than hardrace. megan racing is 19mm. I couldn't pull up any working links anywhere on ultra racing. Should I just order the corksport and do whatever it takes to make it work or pay the few extra bucks for the hardrace?

Funny story.. I bought the bar when it first came out. It didn't come with billet mounts, it came with OEM style Energie suspension (autozone) brackets.. they kept bending and after they replaced two (for free), and both bent I ordered custom sized brackets from Hotchkiss instead of asking fort eh 3rd replacement. A little later corksport started including billet brackets with the bar haha. Also, if you look at the hardrace engine mount that says *2.0 A/T only.. I'm the one who got that note added. I bought one and it did not fit (they don't have the 2.5 gas in that market) they gave me a complete refund (shipping included) and then added the note into the catalogue haha.

Yea, I would recommend billet brackets, especially if you lower later; however on these smaller bars at stock height I don't think it would be that much of an issue. Not sure what to say about corksport; if I knew 100% the bar is unchanged I'd say go for it. The mazda 3/6 posting lists "25mm"... The one for the CX-5 was 28mm.. If the total width and height (length of arms) on that bar are different you likely would have fitting issues.

Don't know if you've ever had an aftermarket sway bar, but with the OEM end links you may only be able to get proper fitment using the "soft"/outer hole on whatever bar (still better than stock).

I've had good experience with hardrace (you can try megan racing for US supplier, not sure on price difference). If you find an ultra racing vendor on ebay/performance parts site, usually they will quote you on any part # in the catalog (www.ultraracing.my)

I use parts from both and have no bad experience from them.

I'm using the stock end links, with the inner holes on the sway bar and I don't have issues.

JBR's bars are the same for Mazda 3, Mazda 6, and 2WD CX-5. Corkport's Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 bars have identical instructions to each other. The only differece I can tell is that they are 25 mm instead of 28 mm for the discontinued CX-5 bar.

Stock sway bar is 19mm. UR is 21mm. UR must have used a stiffer spring because the 2mm difference is very huge in terms of stiffness in side quality. But performance wise, I'd say they're good.

Just wanted to let you guys know where I'm at. Derrick @ Corksport is checking on the arm length of their Mazda 3/6 bar to see if it's suitable for AWD CX-5

Anyone have a stock 1st gen Cx5 AWD swaybar that they can take a picture of? Specifically the ends of the bar after the 90 degree bend.
