2009 Mazda5
Just bought a 2009 Mazda5 yesterday. How to I tell which trim I have? Tried a VIN decode and came up short. Can't seem to find anything on this anywhere.

Thanks in advance

Don't know much about the 09 models - I remember the GT had the LED tails or something.

For the 12+
Sport is base, smaller wheels, no side skirts, no spoilers, no fogs.

Touring
Spoiler, side skirts, fogs

GT
Leather, moonroof, HID.

I have a 2009 GT. It has leather seats and rear led lights. I believe the touring model only has cloth seats. The base sport model doesnt have a sunroof nor fog lights.

That*s cool. Are there GTs with 5-speed?? Did you buy the car new with that build in the US? Canadian imports, dealer options, aftermarket options, DIY build can make anything possible.

If you enter your VIN above, does it come up with *M* at the end?

For example, my current car shows up as: 2008 MZ5 GT A

I bought it off lease in 2009. It was originally delivered to a US dealer.

Mine (Jm1cr29l180302615) shows up as a "P." Here's a pic of the window sticker.

One issue with the 2008 trim level doc: There are a few examples of 2008 Tourings with 5-speed manual. :)
Took a double take at the document and it may not be as off as we think. Notice page 3, under Touring - Function/Powertrain is left blank. This means a carry over from the lower package so auto and manual was an option for Touring!.. It is only the GT that is limited to the auto. The GT is where it is at. I'd consider another '08-09 5sp GT and do the taller 5th gear mod. I can dig the car for a while.

Did a quick google and it seems Mazda VINs don't distinguish transmission. This may not be a good indicator and the "A" and "P" might be something totally unrelated.
