But if you take the EPA combined 29mpg multiplied by fuel tank size, range should be in the 420 mile area.
And since you've got a couple of gallons reserve in the tank on top of your 384 miles, that's not far off.

I also would suggest itís more realistic to use combined not highway.

Has nothing to do with transmission "tuning". If you want to know why the same engine feels different in the 3/6/CX-5, just look at the final drive gearing. It's much lower in the CX-5 to compensate for the car's additional weight.

Keep in mind you still have about a couple of gallons of gas when the gauge is on E, so I don't really think you are that far off.

EDIT: Oops, looks like Paris1 beat me to it! :P

    2016.5 CX5: 385 is nearly exactly what I get.

I primarily city drive these days. I always fill up at 1/4 tank and the computer (I reset trip miles each fill up) usually is around 250-280 miles. Highway would probably be closer to your number, 7.

So 11.5 gallons X 28 mpg ~ 320 miles. If your GT is showing 380 and actually giving you 380 you are one of the lucky ones.
2016 GT AWD here as well, and I agree - I've never shown more than 330 miles after a fill, and also RARELY hit 12 gallons.

I can never understand how anyone runs out of fuel these days, the warning light comes on so early these days. At least 50 miles left when it shows zero I would say.

I think the calculation is using your actual average mileage rather than EPA so if you have been heavy on the foot your range will be lower. Check your average mileage...
