CX5 Turbo confirmed!

I know we're all pretty confident about the turbo coming but here's some further confirmation. At least for Canada.

Looks like CP/AA will be coming on all trims for Canada. I'd expect the same for the U.S.

Absolutely fantastic find and yes, it looks like if this is real, that there will be a 2.5T engine option for the CX-5 in Canada and hopefully the USA. I know exactly what car I will be buying in 2019.

Should be available in both USA and Canada. Wouldn't make sense just to release in Canada.

It says "improved rear seat comfort"...... how about fixing the FRONT seats guys? I'd trade my '17 up to a 19' Signature Turbo if the seats were actually comfortable.

Front seats are fine for majority of owners otherwise we would see more complaints online

Looks like the 2.5T is gonna happen peeps- diesel well we won't talk about that (notcool) but both coming in tandem seems like a bad bet, my diesel dreams may nearly be dead. Saw rumors Hyundai/Kia is pulling back on it also.

Vented seats ftw!

Look at it this way - your diesel that may/may not appear will have the same torque figure as the 2.5T not to mention the 2.5T will have more hp.

You went up against me on a bet. Noone ever wins that game. But the toyota rav4 hybrid still has to drop until I can collect, I know. By q2 2019 I'm predicting I'll be sending you shipping details.

Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this. I want a turbo and have it OVtuned and modded, but gen2 not very good looking.. also upside down lol.

This is nice. This change will cure everything I've ever bitched about nearly (still no locking awd).

-quiet ride
-power commiserate with the segment
-sirius XM

I am going to have a hard time not trading my cx5 in on this cx5 if the 0-60 is sub 6.2, by the time any more expensive maintenance is due (brakes new tires, etc).

I'd definitely go CPO though.

What do you need a locker for? All you need to do is downshift increase rpms and you will get a noticable power transfer (just like your current cx5). And I have grippy 255s so I'm sure those 225 geopoops will slip better (worse?).

I live in a rural area. Sucks not being able to lock. It's one of the main issues I have with the car.

I will be curious to hear first hand reports on this engine. Does it have the cylinder deactivation system as well as the turbo?

I don't think the turbo has the cylinder deactivation. It is the same engine as in the Mazda 6 and CX-9. The CX-9 feels nice - much like a CX-5 with the 2.5T. The recorded 0-60 time is about 7.1-7.3 seconds. As the CX-5 is ~700 lbs less, I could see the AWD CX-5 do that in about 0.5 seconds less. Should be a very nice car that hopefully will sill get ~24 MPG all around.
