Chirping sound, when I touch the gas pedal

I'm not young either(51). By that time, when that belt needs to be replaced, hopefully I will be driving another car.

From most of your posts I thought you're much younger than 51! I've to admit your decision should be correct as we've seen reports of snapped serpentine belt at 50,000 miles, but we haven't seen any reports of water pump belt failure.

For my knowledge, how do you loosen up the tension on the water pump?
You just pull it off with a rag, as in the service manual?

Water pump drive belt is a "stretch" belt. There's no tension adjustment on this part. I'd follow the service manual, as I've never replaced a "stretch" drive belt without tension adjustment. And that's why I'd like to know someone else's experience such as you if you're willing to do it. ;)
