New firmware

:
CX 5 GT AWD
I updated my firmware last week and now I get a weird message when I hit the talk/command button on steering wheel. Is this normal with the updated firmware? This is the most recent update from dealer. Please see pic below.

How do you update the firmware?

On a side note, My dealer (service manager) told me today at my oil change that Mazda will NOT be getting car play. Apparently they have no interest integrating it. Ugh!

dealers can update firmware (for free)or i believe you can do it through mazda toolbox but I've never tried it http://infotainment.mazdahandsfree.com/
i'd like to see the patch notes to see what changed though
there's a forum for AA so let's not derail it but I heard the same thing from my dealer (I have a 2017 CX5 GT). Only info she had was for 2018-19 mazda 6 and 2019 CX9

Dealer updated for free. I believe it is a done with a usb flash drive that they install. Does anyone elses look like this? This is OS Version 59.00.504 NAN. Music database version 00.07.000 and fail-safe version 59.00.504.

Off the top of my head, on newer MAZDA CONNECT* firmware versions, you can go to Settings -> System and check/uncheck the VR (voice recognition) tips setting to show/hide this tips when the VR button is pressed. Someone, please correct me if I am wrong.

This is correct. The dealer may have turned on this feature as your picture doesn't really appear to be the firmware screen.

The dealer just did it on Friday-don*t know why they wouldn*t install the latest software.

I would ask your dealer this question.
Why would they update with an older version?
I bought my car last year and it came factory loaded with version 504. It's not the latest for sure.

Your dealer is dead wrong and should probably read up on the product.

Thank you all for the helpful information. The VR button was the issue and once unchecked it resolved the problem. Ill ask the dealer about the September update-my Mazda warranty ends 9/10 and I dont want to have to pay for the updated firmware. Hopefully they will have the September update before then.

I've had this happen. I don't think the dealer always has the latest version. Same happened to me about a year ago or so. I even asked them about it and they weren't even aware there was a later version (that was being talked about in the forums). I've found they don't always have the latest intel.

Ive got another appointment this week for the dealer to update (the supposedly already updated) firmware. Just wasnt to verify-what is the newest firmware? Also I read something about gracenote updates...what is gracenote?

I've noticed my dealer is always a bit behind in latest firmware knowledge; why is it so difficult to ensure they have the latest firmware for customers?

Are you having problems? I personally wouldn't bother upgrading unless I was having problems.

When I updated my maps last month, because the firmware was original (2016), I had some glitches. It does work better now with the last update I did. but because my original Mazda warranty is up soon, I just wanted to update everything I could before I have to pay.
