Android Auto on Headunit: Where do you store/dock your phone?

:
2016 CX-5 Touring
Question for those who use Android Auto on the headunit and therefore plug their phone into the USB and DON'T use the phone's screen, where do you place your phone?

I've been trying to come up with a place to mount a dock for one-handed docking of the phone but haven't found a good place or solution yet. Has anyone out there? I have a 2016 with the electronic parking brake which has a little rectangular tray next to the cupholders that could fit a slim dock but I haven't found a dock yet that would fit (as they're usually have some depth to prevent them from tipping over with the phone).

Looking for something like this (made for the VW Golf): https://www.d-docks.com/details.html

How about the cubbyhole spot between the parking brake and your seatbelt buckle or in your pocket, shouldnt you be concentrating on your driving skills and thus not hitting the car in front of you...?

What did you do before cell phones....

Okay what about this one:

Wait, wait, wait....You CAN use Android Auto?? I thought we were in a "waiting for Mazda to catch up to the rest of the civilized world" situation. Are you saying I can plug my phone into a USB (any? There are 2 in the console), fire up AA and use the Mazda screen? Surely you are using black magic of some sort.

I have no reason for a dock anymore. I plug in phone and lay it in cubby hole under climate controls on my 2017.
