Cx-5 2017 ac

How's your winter going? About in the middle of it now, eh?

About to enter the second month. Not too bad. Been a rainy start though. About 150mm (5.91") this month.

Was 6.3C (43.34F) this morning, hit a maximum of 15.4C (59.72F) earlier. Currently 13.8C (56.84F)

It's like our spring, only less wet.

When I say it’s more accurate on winter it’s usually when it’s very cold as in bellow freezing.

Keep in mind though that 'official' temp readings are usually from weather stations that positioned so that they aren't affected my concrete surfaces, buildings, or other heat sinks. A vehicle's temp reading is probably reasonably accurate for the area the car is positioned

Since the thermometer is in the engine compartment, I'd like to know how the influence of the engine heat is mitigated.

Good point. I used to have a Peugeot 306 and the outside temp sensor was in the driver side door mirror housing so well away from engine influences. Mind you if it was in the engine compartment and with fragile French electrics it probably would have stopped working(weakest)

Mine is always very close within a degree. Actually struffled a bit today, it's 90. It eventually got the interior nice and cool but did take longer

The sender is sandwiched in front of the radiator and the front bumper. It will be subject to transient temperature but doesn’t react quickly so most are not displayed. In hot weather, the fans run so the heat from the engine is mostly kept away. In cold weather it can be influenced by a hot engine for a short time but drops soon after moving. I haven’t got a picture of a CX-5 but you can see it on my old CX-3. The horn is on the left and the sender is exactly opposite on the right side with white wires going to it.

Thanks for the detailed explanation (2thumbs)

As suspected, not that accurate due to lots of variables.

Thanks for the photo! The diagram I saw didn't make the location clear.

Your explanation makes sense, and indicates that it will have to be in motion to be accurate, or at least not stationary for long.

99 today in my neck of the woods. Outside thermometer read 103 this afternoon but it's near my outside A/C unit so that might of influenced it a little bit.
CX-5 A/C working fine. No complaints.

Really sounds like the OP's a/c has issues and could be related to the lack of use until very recently....

The OP did not say if there were any smells from the aircon. This would also indicate lack of use (which the OP admitted initially).

That's why they should get it looked at by an air conditioning specialist.

I think yours is a demic. My AC is very good and the heater is brilliant.

Maybe they fixed it in 2017YM, but my 2015 is the same as the others on the lot when I questioned them. They thought they had an issue too, but they tested a few others and it's all the same. Just a quirk.

Speak for yourself. My heater is awesome. My AC just needs servicing which will bring it back to its freeze out performance.

I don't have the dual climate control, it doesn't go out of all vents.

Heater heats, interior just leaks. No insulation in the car. Sucks for heat in winter.
