oil or water cooled turbo?

I imagine anything really in the last 25 or so years is water cooled. Obviously oil lubricated :)

thanks! I take it that's why is not necessary to let the turbo cool down anymore after driving since there is no oil to get cooked?

Yeah... I lived through the standard cooling down period of the day with a ‘84 Mitsubishi Cordia Turbo. No shutting down right away after use.. always a few minutes of idling before shutdown. It had oil cooled bearings for all 116HP.. it did only weigh about 2300lbs though and was a manual.

The bearings of the turbo are still lubricated with oil just like they always have been. The addition of a coolant loop helps keep the oil temperatures in the turbo center cartridge down.
