Poor Mans HUD - AIO Tweak

:
2017 CX5 AWD Touring
My Touring doesn't have the HUD but the AIO Tweak displays the speed with the SPEEDO APP from the AIO Tweak. It's a nice feature being the Infotainment is eye level so one doesn't have to look down to see the vehicles speed.

Isn’t it easier to look down 4 inches versus right 10?

Actually it's not.

That's WHY Mazda moved the Infotainment screen up and over because prior to that in 2016 and older models the Info screen was too low and it caused drivers to take their eyes off the road. So Mazda engineers designed the 2017+ Info screen to be in such a place that ones eyes are still on the roadway.

Looking down is never ideal. Your eyes are off the road and the speedo numbers on these cars are very small, a 1/2" to be exact, and it requires your eyes to focus in on such a small number. Plus many drivers use their left arm and it rests at 12 on the steering wheel, which then obscures the speedo.

So it has nothing to do with "inches" as much as it has to do with field of vision and where your eyes are focused at. Keeping your eyes on horizontal plane of the roadway is much better and safer than looking down. The Infotainment screen is placed in such an area that your eyes are still on the roadway while looking on the Info screen.
