My 2008 Mazda5 GT 5-spd manual, purchased brand new in 2008, now has, and I can't believe I'm saying this, 489,000km (305,000mi+) on it. Most has been highway. Never touched the motor at all except for spark plugs, fluids, belts, filters. It currently burns no oil between changes. I believe it isn't quite a peppy as it was when new, but it's not bad. Lots of tires, brake pads, rotors, shocks (once), and it's starting to rust around the rear wheel wells. I changed the transmission fluid once. Clutch is still fine.

So, I'd say, if you keep up on regular maintenance, and don't drive it hard, yes, the 5 has LOTS of life in it.

if you only knew.... I show her so many cars I would like, then jokingly showed her a modded MS6 at 100k miles and she wanted me to get that. smh
Was debating this, but now that I got p5 up and running again, I can take my time to find something great

My 2007 Mazda 5 (purchased in 2012 with 68,000 miles) is going strong at 168,000 miles. Living in PA generally means extra care to make up for the winter pot holes, but other than that itís been great!

If my 2012 (107K now, owned since new), makes it to 168K without trans/motor problems, I will go kiss Caitlyn Jenner between her legs.

168K - that is a very specific number... If you've tolerated the car for this long, you can tolerate it longer. I think we feel the same way about this car, a love-hate relationship with it. Love the idea what it can/should be (affordable, quality, compact MAV) but hate what it actually is (not very fuel efficient, cramp, low material quality)* but hey, no car is going to check all boxes... Look forward to your 200K update ;D
