One of my favorite things about this vehicle is the fact i do not want to do a whole lot to it, versus every other vehicle i have owned. So here is a thread for the progress, processes, pains, joys and overall enjoyment this thing brings.

New to the forum, but happy to finally be here. I came over from the Ram side of the house and absolutely love my 2018 CX-5.

Here is a thread to share the things i do with this and hopefully help others when they are out and about deciding on what to do

Premium Floor Mats

I asked the dealer here in Texas if they could order the premium floor mats out of Canada and after about an hour, it was determined they could not.

So I went online and they were delivered today.

My thoughts on them:
They look sharp and add a sporty type feel to the car. I love the material and the tight fit they have on the car. They are also backed with the same material as the facotry carpet mats. So they do not slide around at all.

Only thought so far is that I will not be washing them with a pressure washer like I used to do with the ones on my Ram.

Over all, I would recommend them.

Class 3 hitch and wiring

Hitch installed and wiring hanging out for me to do another day. It was not hard but it was a PITA, especially compared to the one I did on my Ram. That said it looks good and I only have 1 concern that I will investigate more tomorrow.

Trunk organizing and protecting

Of course this thing is great for storage, but how to make it better?

I bought the factory option for protecting the back of the seats, but i am not thrilled with the fitment.

I also bought this simple organizer for keeping things from rolling around.

Next is the rubber mat to help with lawn stuff and keeping my dogs in place.

But this crate fits great too.

How do you get your dogs in and out of that thing without chewing up that shiny black bumper?(huh)

I updated the pictures. You can see the flap that hangs down in one of the pictures. It attaches via Velcro and I store it by the spare so I always have it.

Stats on tint and the guard for anyone who needs it.

1) Front two windows are tinted with 3M ceramic 18%
2) Rear windows are all factory died glass only
3) 3M UV clear is on the sunroof
4) Carbon body shield is on the trunk sil

I can’t see anything on the trunk sill

Yes sir. It's that clear bra material that heals itself under heat. I took this option as now I don't have a color change in place with the traditional cover.

The picture shows a small line in the paint and that's where it starts/ends

Hmm is this from the dealer? Cost? Looks too loose though and looks like falling apart but it might do its job. Because I am looking for a similar cover like this (extends over the rear bumper) as there is some time that I have to put a lot of heavy travel bags on my trunk that I fear may scratch my rear sill even though I have plating on it.

Yes sir, this is from the dealer. I forgot the brand name that was on the box, but it is one i have seen a lot. Maybe coverking....

It looks tight when it lays flat and it really isnt falling apart, I actually think they gave me the wrong one. The velcro and holes do not line up as they should, which may be what you are referring too. I love the cover itself and will be replacing it this weekend or living with it (depending on the dealer input i get back). The only think i am changing is adding the rubber mat over it as its thicker and will hold water versus this which just repels it.

Wow, I really like those Mazda mats out of Canada! If I'm correct they are made by 3D Maxpider but the Mazda ones seems to still have the little lip by the gas pedal. I had ordered the aftermarket ones but that lip was removed so I sent them back. The weathertechs have a very small lip which helps a bit from water and slush getting under the mats in that area.

Thank you sir! There is a lip and it appears that it will hold the mud and water that frequents my area. I like them a lot more than some of the other options as they do feel industrial with the thick rubber, they have the lip and they cover the dead pedal. Plus they seem to flow with the vehicle really nicely compared to some of the other main brands we all buy from.

Ok so went to the dealer today and bought my new roof channels and a new trunk mat. Also found out why my cover didn't fit, they gave me one for the older model, but that's fixed now too.
