Wi-Fi 2018 CX-5

I have Wi-Fi on my 2018 CX-5 diesel but I just don't know what it's for. Anybody can chime in?
Can you surf the Internet? Or I have seen people in Asia watching movies and TV shows on infotainment screen with Internet access while driving ⋯ (whistle)

Must be an Asia feature or Europe. The link website originates from the Netherlands.

The WiFi option is programmed into the US units but it is turned off. Lame, Mazda decision.

Only way to turn it on is via the AIO Tweak.

Yeah, just what we need - another distraction.

I can see morons driving down the road watching porn.

Would it be possible to access live traffic on US/Canada version with WiFi turned on with allinonetweaks. I've got Android auto installed, but never thought of connecting Wi-Fi as thought that there was no use for it

I have it activated, but turned off, in mine. I think I discovered I can sit in my driveway and play music off my network server. Until I move to the end of the driveway. I guess I could do the same with my phone, if my carrier allowed hot-spotting, but so will a USB cable or Bluetooth. Best I can tell it is a useless feature that offers an easy hack into my system.

Admittedly, it is a less useless feature if you were able to have the live traffic function. It's definitely available for EU versions although not available for North America although I don't understand the reason why.

I have it activated as well (being in the EU). I travel every year from Belgium to the south of France (a 1.000 km trip). Once the NAV destination entered, and I start the engine, the WiFi connects to my home-network and automatically downloads fuel-prices along the route, weather, and live traffic on the long trip. It is some 12 hours driving .....

And vice-versa : when departing from our vacation-destination I enter "go home" and I connect to the WiFi of the vacation-home; the NAV then retrieves all necessary info for my trip home.

The trip is only 1.000 km, but approximately halfway, whilst refuelling, I connect again to an open (guest) WiFi-network from the fuel-station / raststatte / resting area / restaurant etc. to update to the latest status of any road-problems ahead. Saved me a lot of (unnecessary) time on the road, fi. when circumventing or bypassing the hughe Paris area inbound Brussels.

I fully agree with Jonno21 here, as I do not understand neither why this (nice) system isn't implemented in the US.
