Anyone install an oil catch can on their 2016+

2016 CX-9 Signature
I'm thinking about installing a catch can on my wife's 2016 CX-9. With this being a direct injection motor this could be a good idea since we plan to have this vehicle for 100K miles +, was curious if anyone has installed one and how much oil/sludge your seeing. Would also be curious on where you mounted it.

Just ordered the Mishimoto for my wifes new 2018. Have 100 miles on it now and plan to put it on hopefully this weekend.

Interesting thing to note is that little "L" shape tubing that connects the PCV to the intake tube has different size inlet and outlet. Outlet from PCV is 5/8" while the inlet to intake is 3/8". Make sure you get the right size tubes. I just change out my oil at 4k interval and drained out approx 1.8oz of oil/fuel from the catch can. So that is less than half oz of blowby per thousand miles which is pretty good I think.

no need. the EGR valve is already designed to seperate the oil and blow-by.

"No need" is correct. However, see post #2 and #5. It appears there's still room for improvement, and the addition of an oil catch can does help.

SW, any chance you could take a few photos of your installed catch can and where you mounted it? Also to confirm, if adding an oil catch can, one should purchase a length of 5/8" tubing and a length of 3/8" tubing?

SW, any chance you could provide photos? And could you confirm that I'll need two different sizes of tubing?

So I want to make a correction to the sizing of the "L" shape hose (refer to pictures above).

This is how I plumbed my can. So the 0.57" end stays attached to the PVC. I plugged the 1/2" splicer to the 0.48" outlet and connected to the 1/2" oil hose which went to the can's inlet. Another 1/2" oil hose bridged the can's outlet to the intake tube. Hope this make sense.

Thanks man! Pics don't show for me unfortunately. Any chance you can upload/post them using the mazdas247 forum?
