Vibrating Sound at stop while in drive with A/C off

2017 CX5 GT
I have a 2017 CX5 GT FWD now at 5k miles, I started to notice a vibrating sound / bad note when the cx5 is warmed up all the way, at a stop with break applied, with A/C off. The engine slowly drops to about 550 RPMs and the sound comes out from around center dash or firewall, sounds like its deep inside. I took it to dealer last Friday and requested to drive with a tech. (I did not want to get a "could not duplicate noise" and tech said he would hear it too)...tech said the rpm drop is normal for sky active engine and they kept it for 5 days.

They said they first thought it was something vibrating inside dash and they took it apart with no success and called their "mazda hotline" and where advised to re-torque #3 engine mount. According to dealer noise went away. IT DID NOT. I have another appointment this monday for round 2..... I expect them to come out with some BS of characteristic of engine....hopefully not but prepared to fight it.

Anyone heard of experience this. A few weeks ago I googled it and found a couple of forums mentioning it for the previous gen CX5 but no one posted a solution for it.

now I'm even thinking it could be a exhaust leak from somewhere in the behind firewall, the engine mount itself, i don't know.....all I know it did not sound like this when It was new. Any ideas or experience would help.

Engine warm, In Drive, A/C off.....if engine is cold then RPM are higher.....In neutral or P, RPMs are around 700, A/C off because compressor keeps RPMs at around 700.

After 23 days in she service department its fixed...

A good dealer service department and a good service advisor makes a whole lot of difference.

The dealer first thought it was something vibrating in dash, but no.
They reached out to Mazda and they thought it was the engine mount, but no.

They got Mazda field support involved and there was another Cx5 in Arizona with the same issue in shop, I was also hinted that other ones existed in other places.....to make it short the Mazda field support was out there and found it was vibrating in the fire wall where the heater hoses come into the cabin. After applying some foam padding, Walla fixed.

Im glad and grateful to dealer, service advisor, and Mazda for not giving up and just claiming "normal characteristics of vehicle"

Pic of the outside firewall where the hoses come into the cabin, I saw some foam padding around a/c lines, but I can't compare or remember if that was there before. Can you take a pic of your 17 Cx5 so we can compare. Im assuming thats the foam that was added around a/c line behind the bracket.

what you are hearing is totally normal. that is just the sound of the direct injectors, dont worry about it...

No, it was a different sound then the sound the direct injectors, It got fixed "read my earlier post. My sound was a vibrating sound and I could feel it in the brake pedal.

Here is what tech wrote on invoice word for word......

Performed inspection found rattle noise coming from passenger side front. Contacted hot line recommend put chasis ears on vehicle to find where noise is coming from could not determine spot of noise. Sent to region was contacted by field specialist (XXXName of GuyXXX) was instructed to put foam padding around bracket that holds heater hoses behind shield and to adjust the bracket. Tested repair no noise heard at this time

I'm posting this in case someone gets this issue too. I was hinted that other vehicles existed with same issue around the country (US) with same issue and looks like they found a solution. Im not sure if a TSB will be issued or its just hand full with the problem. With mine they where trying to find the cause. It took 25 days in shop. Everything from taking dash apart to adjusting and re-torqing engine mounts and more. It sounded like an engine mount gone bad but they where good. All it was is the heater hose bracket vibrating into firewall under engine load when engine vibrates a bit more. I could feel it in brake pedal because its attached to fire wall as well.
