Key Fob Replacement

I took my 2008 CX-9 to the dealership and they said that the key fob was busted. The dealership quoted a replacement at over $500, so for the last few months I have been using the metal key to lock, unlock, and start the car. I am becoming annoyed with the little metal key and am wondering if it is possible to program a new key myself and also if I can use one of the sleek newer keys or if I need to find a 2008 credit card shaped key.

Thanks for the help!

well to progam a new Smart Card key yourself, you will need to have two working Smart Cards but it sounds like you don't even have 1 working Smart Card at the moment? is that correct?

Without two working Smart Cards only a Mazda dealership or there are some locksmith places that should be able to program the card for less than the dealership would charge.

You can find new Smart Cards online, this is one such place, the Smart Card price is $175
