For those paying a dealer or other third party, don’t assume they are doing it right, ask the question. If the wire crosses the airbag and it deploys, it could either not work as designed or the occupants could be injured when bits of trim are ejected at explosive speed.
The wire must cross to the wind shield side below the airbag and run on the windscreen side of the airbag up to the roof lining. In the attached photo, you can see the blue airbag at the bottom and my power lead to the dashcam is fastened to existing wires on the windshield side. This is why pulling the rubber door seal back and popping the wire behind is unacceptable because in that scenario, the wire would cross the airbag at some point.
