Hy,
I have experienced some problems or inconvenience with my CX-5 (2013) infotainment system:
1. Backup camera stop working (in the evening has stopped working, in the morning has worked again for a few minutes, and after that when I put in reverse it only show my parking sensors.)
2. When I start the car, infotainment starts with the first song from USB stick (does not remember the last song you listened)
3. I would like to play videos on the screen (for my daughter :) )
4. When playing the next song from steering wheel controls, the showing list from the screen does not follow the song that is playing.
5. Can not display songs on folders (as organized on USB stick)

By reading some posts I've seen that some of this problems might have a fixing solution through a software update, but most posts refer to the new generation of CX-5, so I have some questions:
A. Which is the latest version of software for my CX-5 (2013) ? (link for download)
B. Does anyone have a tutorial for updating software for this model?
C. Some of this problems/inconveniences can be solved other than with software update?

Thank you.

Backup camera is probably dirty/loose connector. You can pop off the hatch panel to get to it, clean it and reattach.

The others are a bit odd - what size USB stick is it? Some of the newer high capacity versions have been reported to be glitchy in operation.

Also, I don't think it will ever be able to play videos. The unit doesn't have that kind of processor capability. For example, the GPS subsystem on that model does all its own display processing and just sends a video signal to the head, much like the backup camera.

2. A new bluetooth controller (under warranty) cured mine from playing track 1 each start up (apparently the BT controller also controls USB).
4. Mine doesn't follow it either, but it's handy if you want to cue up your next track while the current one is playing.
5. Mine shows playlists (but I use an old-school ipod).
A/B/C. Assuming you have the same NB1 stereo as the UK versions, as far as I could find out there is no way to update the software.

He has a 2013 model, this fix doesn't apply because they changed it for 2014/2015 when adding voice control. 2013's did not have this issue.

I think I have voice control (at least for dialing)
This is it?

Perhaps you actually have a 2014 model year - what's the build date on the label next to the driver's door?

I had voice on my 2013 car.

For updates there is a site that gives simple instructions on how to do it.

http://mazda3revolution.com/forums/...t-firmware-downloads-updated.html#post1859114

Those instructions are for the Mazda Connect system; not this one.

I could be mis-remembering the change between 2013 and 2014. I thought it had to do with the voice command system - ie, it was improved (barely) for the 2014 MY.

They definitely changed the hardware for the bluetooth box, running USB through it too, and introduced a bug much like what OP describes. There is a fix but it involves physically changing out the bluetooth module because its a hardware problem. Build date for affected cars is (I think), post-november 2012. Mazda's wonky model year system actually had 2014's being built then. There's a TSB somewhere.

In this guide are used some buttons that I don't have (*PRESS "Home Button" above Commander Knob ONCE)....I don't understand.
Is it possible for you to copy/paste in this topic only that instructions used by you to update your software (only those applicable fo CX-5 , 2013)

Thx.

The only system updates I have put on my NB1 are via the SD card. These were downloaded with Tom Tom software at the time. Not sure how that occurs on the head units without the nav.

In that case I think the dealer has to do it. Software updates won't fix OP's problem though. I think he actually has a 2014 model year (could be in Romania they used different model years), with the defective bluetooth module that affects USB playback. The only fix is to either use bluetooth for playback, or replace that module. Mazda released a fix a year or two ago.

I got a system update on the entertainment unit done at the dealer under warranty. I don't know what was entailed. It did fix the phone problems after a reconnect on the phone.

Regarding the backup camera...i have open it, but there are no sign of infiltration
