2016 CX-5
Hi guys,

So in my 48k service on my 2016 CX-5, the dealer gave me the report highlighting that I should change my rear discs and pads.
According to his report, I had only 3mm left on my rear pads.
He quoted 470 CAD so I decided to wait a little bit and get a second opinion.

I have 53k now and I just installed my winter tires and decided to verify the brake pads.
I'm no brake expert but I know a bit or two about mechanics.

Have a look at the pictures below, what's your opinion? Do I need to replace them ASAP?
I measured from the base plate and it looks like I have more 5mm rather than 3.
Also you can see that there's still a bit left before arriving to the wear plate indicator.

Thank you guys!!

Assuming wear is even on all pads, I agree with yugrus. Also, why did the dealer suggest replacing discs? That's not a given, you know.

Glad you didn't let them take you for a ride!
I'd guess that they quoted 3mm left because they meant until you reach the wear indicators, so they didn't "lie".
Still, unless you're hard on brakes, you've got plenty of life left in them.

Oh, by the way, I hope the pad in picture was inner pad. Because if not, the inner pad could be much thinner the the outer...

Thank you guys, @yugrus the second picture is the inner pad and the third is the outter. Yes the outter seems to have even more left.
@shandoz, I guess you're right, the didn't lie, they just didn't tell the complete truth hehe.
