Castrol 0W-20 Magnatec

Will be doing my 1st oil change soon. Dealer says they don't carry/use the Mazda Moly oil but use Castrol Magnatec which is specified by Mazda. I'm ok with it as Castrol makes a great oil; I just didn't realize Mazda USA specified it. Anyone else hearing this?

Castrol paid Mazda to be their approved oil. All the car companies do this. You are fortunate if your dealer is using Magnatec as it is a very good oil. Many service shops use generic brands of oil like “Preferred Choice” which carries the specs but is cheap for a reason. Go with that Magnatec in confidence.

On the manual, it's Castrol, I guess they just paid Mazda for that.
