key fob battery life?

Have my car for 6 months and the key fob low battery light is one already. Is it because of the proximity sensor?

I've had two of the same fobs for the past 2.5 years, and one is still on the original battery. The other, which was the primary fob, had to have the battery replaced after 2 years.

We use both fobs, swapping them over every month or two, and got a bit under a year from the original batteries on our Mazda 3 with keyless entry. We've since had a bit over a year from the replacements and not had any warnings yet.

The batteries in the "smart" key fobs on my 2010 seem to last a couple of years. My wife drives the car more than I do, hers last maybe 18 months.

I've learned to keep a couple extra 2025 cells in the kitchen junk drawer.

I love my old mpv's remote key. I don't even remember replacing it once. In my Mazda 3, I have to change once in couple of years.

Wouldn't be awesome, if cars can unlock, if it senses your Bluetooth paired phone? And ble is visible only within proximity to the car.

I get about a year out of the primary, but replace the batteries in both at the same time.
