Thought I would share my latest and greatest. Only cost about 20 dollars total. I got the wireless charger from amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

This one had one of the best reviews and it was also one of the smallest to fit into a tight space. The install wasn't that bad actually.
You just have to remove a few pieces of trim.. no screws at all. Just all clips. The side trim pieces to the left and right of the gearshift you just pull toward yourself and they pop off.

Then then you can remove the gloss black trim by pulling up (just clips). Lastly you can remove the control knob by pulling up on that piece of trim upward.

The actual plastic piece you see in tho photo is also held into the gloss black trim by two tabs underneath. just flip it over and push the tabs inward to release this trim in the picture.(the gloss black trim and cubby are attached but come apart I mean) Underneath the pocket, you have to use a sharp exacto knife and cut off the ridges to get the wireless charger closer to the plastic. I then use epoxy to glue the corners and a dot in the center of the wireless charging circle.

It is being powered by USB from the accessory port I have routed from the front 12+input. But since its USB it did work plugged into the port for the radio. Im not sure if I would do this as I'm sure the power consumption might be too much or not enough causing slow charging or messing with the radio. https://imgur.com/9NxYhrl

This is awesome! I wish I would have the guts to do this, but I'm afraid I might break one of the clips/panel. Mine is just 2 weeks old.

Do you have a video or additional tutorial on how to remove the trims and how you plugged in the wireless charger?

Awesome, I've thought about doing something similar on my 2016" Should work even better since the bin in front of the shifter is even larger. I have two questions about it though, First, does anyone know if the USB ports in the center bin put out enough juice to do wireless charging or would I have to route it back to the one in the center console? and Second does anyone know how to remove the center bin in the 2016?

I'm working on my second wireless (fast) charger myself. Using the Samsung 2016 fast charger, but I'm adding magnets in it. I have made a thin metal circle ring to my Note 8. Waiting on magnets from Ali.

If I was using Android Auto(screen has to be on, all the time), the wireless charger could not keep up, I need fast wireless charger.
My biggest problem is, where to place it?

Very impressive mod! (bowdown)

Question: with that particular charger's "guts" being used in your mod, will your phone still charge in a case? Obviously, there was already a layer of plastic between the actual coil and the phone from the original product's shell, but just curious if a thinner, flat and non-metal case will still allow wireless charging in your setup.

I have an iblason case on my iPhone X as in the video and it works flawlessly. The phone case is plastic.

I believe, that I have the same case, on my Note 8 and it has a thin clear back, so no issues with wireless charging, or fast wireless charging.
You guys have a nice spot to put your phones, I envy you.
In gen 1, there is no such big spot for phones.

Isn't there still a spot just forward of the gear selector? There is one on my 2016 that fits my iPhone X perfectly.

Thought I'd add on to the post for anyone who may want to hide everything

First I bought a dash cam hardwire kit and some t-taps on Amazon. With the idea of using the t-taps to directly wire the USB power supply to the wires used for the front accessory port.

I also went with a CHOETECH charger, but got a 7.5W/10W version for fast charging on iPhone and Android.

I followed the instructions for taking the console storage tray off as well as the "Front Console Box" containing the accessory socket*.

I followed the lead of @MasonOTA to cut off the ridges on the underside of the tray so I could glue a wireless charger. I also cut the ends of the dash cam hardwire kit and put them in the female side of the t-tap.

I then unplugged the accessory port from the incoming wire, cut a way a bit of the shielding, and clamped the male ends of the t-taps onto the wires

To plug the hardwire kit into the male t-taps I had to route it below the hole where the wires for the accessory port come in and back through

I just ordered a wireless charger. Thanks for the idea/ details guys! I’ll be taking on this project in the next couple weeks.

I have a wireless charger cradle for my iphone above the dash. Downside is it gets really hot when the sun is out and using Waze - wireless charging is inefficient. Had to position it where an air vent blows across the back.

I'm using this charger on the right side of the rear view mirror and it works great. Using Android Auto and the charging is keeping up, even if the screen is on for over an hour of driving.
I still have to hide the wires w/charger, behind the headliner.
I'm also using, this 12V to usb charger with it:
