I'm about to purchase spline nuts for my new CX-5 GT. The ads I've found online say that the correct size for the nuts is 12x1.5, but does this size also apply for the 19" wheels that came with my CX-5?

yes, 12x1.5 is the wheel stud size and they are pressed in the hubs. the factory wheels do have a fairly wide seat and spline drive lugs are typically much smaller to fit in small aftermarket wheel lug holes, so i would not recommend using them, there just isnt going to be a lot of seating area.
