Yes that is where the car is suppose to be lifted from when changing one tire at a time or using a 2 post lift like pictured. There is no other way to get the car raised using a two post lift. A 4 post lift would work too but you can't work on wheels, brakes or suspension with those lifts since it lifts the car by the tires after driving onto them. The pinch welds are pretty strong but a better option is to use an adaptor on the lift pads that is slotted for the pinch welds. I used a router to cut a channel in some hockey pucks that use to lift at the pinch welds.

Noticed some of the reviews on the rubber ones indicate they split. I'd opt for an aluminum one like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

Should fit my Harbor Freight jack......that said on the CX-5 I find it much more efficient to lift via that dimpled lift spot under the engine bay or rear exhaust. Lifts both front or back all at once.

Unable to do the entire front for the Mazda6 though. I need a longer jack. Ok to lift entire rear of it though.

+1 for the hockey pucks. They're $0.99 at the local sporting goods store. A few passes with a table saw (or router) and you're good to go.
