Has anyone towed a motorcycle(s) with their CX-5? If so, how did it do? What kind of trailer did you use? What was the approximate weight? And if anyone had any, post some pictures!

I have an Aluma all aluminum trailer (except the axle) that weighs about 450 LBS for a 5 X 10 utility with a spare.

Aluma makes their MC10, which is a great lightweight motorcycle trailer, weighs about 450 LBS as well. Both have rubber torsion axle, no leaf springs, for a quiet, smooth ride and improved handling and control in high winds or rough roads.

I haven't towed it with the Mazda yet but here's my set-up. (bike w/trailer is just under ~1,700 lbs)

I havent towed a motorcycle with my 2015 Mazda CX-5. A while ago my friend who owns a Ducati Super Sport, while transporting his motorcycle from a dealer relied on a shipping company. As we was too cautious that his motorcycle as well his Car may get damaged because of his inexperience in this field. So with his relative's reference he just shipped it.

That's a nice touring bike in there. Why would you trail it unless you were moving house? Just curious.

I have one of those folding Harbor freight trailers rated at 1700lbs that I use to tow my 600lbs SecaII when I need to. I have added D-rings for tie down points and made stake sides for the thing. It comes in really handy and is great that it takes up so little space in the garage when folded up. Towing isn't an issue with my bike and trailer and I will often take it with when we go to the Wisconsin Dells for a week in the summer. It's great to be able to ride around those parts.

For anyone interested I ended up getting a trailer, adding my bells and whistles to tow 2 bikes and it worked phenomenal. The CX-5 had no problem towing the trailer for more than 2 hours. If my memory is correct I still even got 25mpg on the highway, thats with 5 people in the car, luggage and towing the trailer. Im very pleased!

I always wonder that when I see someone hauling a big road bike, but there must be plenty of good reasons.

Thanks!

Sorry, I missed this question.

I really have no plans on towing my bike/trailer with the Mazda. We have a motorhome and I'll be taking the bike with us when we travel.
