Hi,
I have an 09 AWD CX9 and need to replace the rear differential mounts. There have been a couple of useful threads but I was hoping someone had done this and remembered how much of a pain it is. I can afford to spend a couple hours out there working on the car but the family get antsy if I spend all day on it - in which case I'd rather pay the shop.
The shop told me they'd take out both axles... was not impressed when I heard that. Can I just put a jack under the differential and press the bushings out? It sounded like the Russian guy destroyed them in place... a little leery of that approach too.
Thanks in advance.

I have a noise from under the CX 9 and thought it might be wheel bearings but once I got under there I found that the differential bushings were shot and the unit was sloppy and moved around with a turn of the wheel. My question is are most people doing this repair themselves buying complete mounts with new bushings or just buying the bushings and installing them in the original mounts? Are the bushings a job for a shop press or can they be handled in the driveway with a C clamp or bench vise? I'm new to this forum. Just bought a 2010 CX-9 in November for my wife and she loves it! Thanks to any who can find time to reply.....
Anybody ever done this repair? I ordered the bushings and am waiting delivery. Why have some suggested that the driveshaft be removed? I could use a little help from anyone with some experience with this.
