rode in a friends new Chevy 1500 that had apple car play. meh.
looked kinda neat but having to plug the phone in all the time and watching his iPhone lose sync all the time was kind of lame.

If it ever shows up, great. If not, no big loss. (I can't really miss something I've never had)

Yeah..the more I think about the idea of plugging in the phone every time would get very annoying. AA is suppose to support wifi. Mazda vehicles have wifi built in, but not activated. At least not in the US. That would be the most ideal situation.

Hasn't that been this way for quite some time (scratch)

You are correct. Since the beginning lol

New AA \ ACP Thread (with Poll!)

Missing a poll option: Want it and will buy an aftermarket head unit that provides AA/ACP.
With a separate tablet screen on infotainment system for 2017 CX-5, this option has become an impossible task as there's no double DIN opening available for aftermarket headunit! (boom04)

I'm disappointed. I thought this was about shot shells and .45s.

Isn't a car for driving?

Even though the 2016 Blose audio is better than my 2015, it still Blows. Adding more low quality audio sources, or a MORE fiddly nav system is not conducive to driving pleasure.

It IS possible to have CarPlay (not sure about AA) wirelessly, BMW have it in some models, and I believe at least 1 other lux marque.

Now whether Mazda will step up to the plate to that level, we'll see. Id settle for regular corded CP.

Quite literally the only thing that could excuse Mazda's delay is that they're brining wireless AA/CP... that would be amazing. Do I think that's going to happen? Hahaha... no.

I've got the 2017 Mazda 6 tourer and my wife's got a 2016 Mazda 2. I'd love it for both cars to have carplay, but it's not a definite requirement!

https://twitter.com/TheJacobBrown the 'Mazda PR Guy' still states it's coming but no dates, i'm getting less and less trusting as the months roll on!

Interesting. It never occurred to me that it might not be wireless.

I just want to let anyone who interested in Android Auto knows that one developer has fixed bluetooth call bug in Android Auto tweak. You can find the patch on M3revolution forum.

Cheers.

The other thread is too long and convoluted to be any help to anyone really looking for info. That's what this thread shall be.

What we know:
Mazda has not officially made any commitment to bringing AA (Android Auto) or ACP (Apple Car Play) to Mazda vehicles.
On 13 March, Cars.com released THIS article claiming "Mazda said" with no specific mention of who actually said it. I have reached out to Cars.com to get more info. I have heard nothing.

An incredible amount of people have heard from: salesmen, mechanics, a Mazda warranty specialist from Australia, a Mazda PR guy on Twitter have all said Mazda is working on it and something would be coming this fall that would retrofit to Mazda Connect Systems. Some would need a new USB port for either Apple verification or to better charge your phone.

A few days ago Mazda and Toyota announced they will be working on a next generation infotainment system together. Many Mazda owners have speculated that this will be the end of any hope for AA \ ACP in a Mazda as Toyota is publicly against both of these.

This is all we know. Not one thing is official. Please feel free to update this thread with facts.

OK, so let's find out: how many forumers are dying to get AA or ACP with a poll.

Let's stay on topic.

Well, its sort of *is* official. This guy Jacob Brown, who is mentioned elsewhere in this thread, made the original statement and apparently still corroborates it. To wit, read the full statement from Mazda below:

"Mazda has been a CarPlay and Android Auto partner since 2014, so it is no secret that we are developing both systems to interface with our Mazda Connect infotainment system. Both software systems should be retroactively upgradable onto all Mazda Connect systems with a potentially minimal hardware addition needed. Mazda does not yet have an official timeline for when these should be available or at what cost, however."

Yea, that's the quote from the cars.com article. Which cars.com won't even corroborate. I've reached out to them twice now to get more information about that article: dead silence.

I was willing to believe it was actually coming, but at this point it has been far too long. It seems like when the 2017s came out would have been a good time to release, no?

Though in fairness, I really don't care since I have a pre-Mazda connect CX-5 which means I won't be getting it if it does ever come out.

Pretty much me too. Everything said recently was talking this fall so I'm giving them until Nov 21st. If it's not here by then...

I believe Mazda doesnt want to add this stufff to their cars because android and apple use it to track driving habits and record how you drive for their autonomous driving plans or something like that

I would like to pull the trigger in Canada on a CX-5 diesel with Android Auto in the VERY near future. However, the lack of information from Mazda corporate may have me taking a serious look at other alternatives soon.

Why did they announce a model with features if they weren't going to be actually shipping them in a short time frame?

Take it with a grain of salt, but someone on reddit (who in other threads has claimed to work at Mazda HQ) stated that AA/CP are both scheduled for release with an upcoming Mazda car and then would be retroactive updated. This makes sense to me. I feel like an update like this would warrant a release with a new car and not just a random update with no ability to publicize with press reviews.

EDIT: Heres the Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/mazda/comments/6ydtsn/lets_talk_about_the_2018_cx9/?st=J80T731J&sh=27e7f712

No interest at all. Would be very happy if I don't have to pay for these, uh, er... games just to get leather seats if I buy another.

In the not to distant future when hands off cars are available I hope the mfg's think about building a car for drivers again without all the bright and shiny disco balls glued on it.

One can only hope...
