The other thread is too long and convoluted to be any help to anyone really looking for info. That's what this thread shall be.

What we know:
Mazda has not officially made any commitment to bringing AA (Android Auto) or ACP (Apple Car Play) to Mazda vehicles.
On 13 March, Cars.com released THIS article claiming "Mazda said" with no specific mention of who actually said it. I have reached out to Cars.com to get more info. I have heard nothing.

An incredible amount of people have heard from: salesmen, mechanics, a Mazda warranty specialist from Australia, a Mazda PR guy on Twitter have all said Mazda is working on it and something would be coming this fall that would retrofit to Mazda Connect Systems. Some would need a new USB port for either Apple verification or to better charge your phone.

A few days ago Mazda and Toyota announced they will be working on a next generation infotainment system together. Many Mazda owners have speculated that this will be the end of any hope for AA \ ACP in a Mazda as Toyota is publicly against both of these.

This is all we know. Not one thing is official. Please feel free to update this thread with facts.

OK, so let's find out: how many forumers are dying to get AA or ACP with a poll.

Let's stay on topic.

I was still working it out. Should be there now.
Are the poll answers OK?

Kept my opinion out of main post. I am starting to doubt it coming, but I don't think the Toyota \ Mazda working on an infotainment together tells anything. They could both customize the hell out of a base system. I doubt they will look similar at all.

Yup, nice choices! I'm in the "meh" camp. I'd use it occasionally, but it's low on my priority list. Needing to plug my phone in every time really defeats the convenience of just having the phone automatically connect through BT.

If Mazda thinks it is important enough feature then they will bring it. Otherwise they should concentrate on/put their resources into HCCI among other things :D

True but:
"Despite the system being a collaborative effort, Mazda and Toyota will develop their own features and applications for their respective versions" shows that if Toyota insists on staying out of these apps, Mazda doesn't have to. Like I said earlier, the core will be the same but not what lays on top. And:
"Nikkei*adds that Mazda’s current MZD Connect system will be updated inline with the introduction of Toyota’s control platform, which will also include high-speed communications hardware."
High speed communications hardware? Maybe better USB ports so phones can pass data quicker?

If it was in the pipeline, surely it (AA/ACP) would have been mentioned by either Mazda or Toyota (uhm)

Wow @ whoever bought car expecting to get it. You're setting yourself up for disappointment as Mazda hasn't ever officially said it's coming.

Sort of floating between options 3 and 4.

Would be cool to try I suppose, but I really don't care.

Missing a poll option: Want it and will buy an aftermarket head unit that provides AA/ACP.

rode in a friends new Chevy 1500 that had apple car play. meh.
looked kinda neat but having to plug the phone in all the time and watching his iPhone lose sync all the time was kind of lame.

If it ever shows up, great. If not, no big loss. (I can't really miss something I've never had)
