Hi guys,
I was hoping someone could give some advice on vacuum lines beyond what I've already searched for. I see a pretty substantial crack in the vacuum line to my cruise control actuator (I think that's what it is) as shown in the pic below. Should I just cut the bad part off and reattach? I'll have to permanently remove it from its handy tie-down as it will be shorter, but maybe that's not a big deal. Also, per @PCB, I've replaced all three solenoids (VTCS, VICS, and PRC/FPR). Two of those are shown in this photo from a few months back.

My other option is to replace it, but the factory part (yeah, I know, it's just a hose) is no longer available for purchase. Would I just go and buy a couple feet of hose at a local parts shop, and is 4mm the correct inner diameter as mentioned here?:

Also, I found this awesome moth on my P5 this morning. I've seen dead leaves that look less like dead leaves than this moth does.

I say just cut it right at the crack and reattach it...

You could replace all your vacuum lines with colorful silicone lines if you want to be fancy....

Bare in mind that my car is in palliative care mode and I don't want to bury a car with hundreds of dollars worth of fancy tubing...

Euthanasia is never out of the question...

I bought one of them used on eBay, pulled from some Mazda somewhere. That one has a Mitsubishi stamp on it.
I bought another generic one from Amazon ("LIAMTU" brand).
I bought the last one new from eBay.
So it's a real mixed bag, and I'll see which one lasts longest!

Check out this recent video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0gf3k0ty00&t=2s
This guy got new Mitsubishi-branded ones on eBay for $11 - $12. Brand is "Isumo." They are sold on Amazon here:

I didn't buy that one because of shipping, and instead just bought the "A1" brand one on eBay that matched the "$11 - $12" he mentioned. I know that these sellers and vendors get parts from wherever whenever they can, but with that video being so recent, I wonder if you could snag a Mitsubishi-branded one by buying the Isumo one. Buy one and let me know how it turns out. :) I would, but I've replaced all three by now...

a vacuum hose is a vacuum hose. as long as it seals and doesn't get kinked, you can replace it with any vacuum hose you find at the hardware store or o'napazone.

When i bought my car about 2 years ago it had a check engine light on for one of those solenoids (can't remember which one now). I bought this car cheap and have never intended on putting a lot of money into it. i bought the cheapest one i could find on Amazon, i think it was around $10, and it's still working fine to this day (and almost 90,000 miles later).

Also, I found an intact vacuum line at a salvage yard on an older Protege model. Looked perfect, but ended up being shorter than my original even with cutting it at the break. So I just cut the bad part of the original line off.

Went to that salvage yard with a buddy. He just bought really nice one-owner PT Cruiser. I thought he was nuts for buying it until I saw it. It's not bad at all. Insanely well cared for...
