Protege5, duh
Anybody have this issue where the metal gas tank cover thing doesn't spring open when you pull the lever? I looked at it last night and couldn't figure out what is wrong - but it was only me - I need a friend to see what happening at the door when the lever is pulled. But if anyone has fixed this before, I'd appreciate any tips. TIA

Found the FSM info...

Spray some lube on both ends of the cable too...

You're very limited on what can actually fail.
One of my P5's did it and it was due to debris build up on the release pin. Cleaned it and lubricated it.
You need to make sure that the release pin is moving when the release handle is pulled.. If not, then you likely need a cable. If so, but the door doesn't 'pop' out, you need a new door spring.
