    Miata Trouble shooting

I was driving my car with no problem, went to the store and when I went to leave and it wouldn't start I initially thought the fuel pump went out because I didn't hear it prime and so I replaced it and nothing so I ran a hard wire to it and it wouldn't crank after that so I checked for spark and nothing. All fuses and relays are good but I cannot figure it what's causing. When I go to crank the check engine light usually comes on then it goes away when you crank it but now it's not coming on, idk if that helps or not.
