How does gracenote work?

So I have music streaming from my Pixel XL but I never get to see cover art. I figure it would have some Beatles covers.
How is Gracenote supposed to work?

Gracenote is used to fill in missing id3 tags on your mp3s. Track titles and album art I think.
I assume you have album art on the phone?

Well it's updated to 7.0 so should be the "new" September 2016 file but I haven't seen a single album cover.

Yes I do have album art on the phone. Over bluetooth it uses google music play.

Then Gracenote doesn't have it all.

I think it needs to be connected via USB. It won't stream album art via Bluetooth.

No idea but since you guys found a solution via USB, then it's all good
