I thought this was a very interesting video comparing the same tire in 3 different wheel sizes (17, 18 & 19) on the same car on the same track on the same day.

Good info. I just wish they'd said what the total weight for the 3 sizes were. I'd love to see/hear how a CX-5 with lighter weight 18's would perform. I think it would be easy to drop at least 10 - 12 lbs per corner compared to the stock GT setup.

Weights -
17 -> 19.92kg (10.82 rim + 9.1 tyre)
18 -> 22.41kg (13.28 rim + 9.13 tyre)
19 -> 20.61kg (11.5 rim + 9.11 tyre)

Many Mazda wheels are already light, 17 lbs. for OEM Miata 17s. The best you can hope for is 2-3 lbs less per wheel.
