I recently purchased a 2001 Protege DX 5 speed for my girlfriend. We bought it from the second owner who has has it for 2 years. The timing belt should have been done before they got the car. (They bought it with 124,000 miles) I took the valve cover off and found a Mitsuboshi CD308 timing belt that had no cracks in it, but didnt look brand new either. I am assuming this is not the original timing belt and that I should be safe for a while. Any input is greatly apreciated!
