backwards suspension bolts!

Mazda, Protege5
on the left side of the car they pulled out towards the front of the car like in the manual. in the right side the original assembly was done incorrectly with the bolt running into the brake assembly.

anyone else encountered this?

Yeah, back when I first got my car I figured out that the previous owner did that. You'll have to unbolt the caliper. Super annoying.

That's how they were from factory. Was done during the sub-assembly process. The callipers were added after the shocks, and then the whole sub-frame onto car.
 
Technically, super-annoying would be the bolt being able to fall out if nut came undone, at least IMO..........brake caliper is no hassle at all to remove.
