link to CX-5 diesel hybrid article? (yes, I'm being lazy and not google'ing)
Rotary range extender in a hybrid system is definitely on Mazda's roadmap as the efficiency of a single rotor (whether it's a 10A or 13B) would be amazing. I think as others have mentioned, partnered with Toyota's hybrid system would be a great way for Mazda to get into the hybrid game since CAFE regulations require them to and developing a system from scratch would exhaust Mazda's entiere R&D budget.
if 2019 docs are out and there's no mention of a Diesel, I will admit that this things is dead afterall.
sad but it's the reality.
EPA figures were probably the final nail in the coffin.
No need to release it with SkyActiv X on the horizon, SkyActiv Diesel 2.0 in development, AND a diesel hybrid.
