2017 CX-5 Towing Options

I ended up going with the US Mazda OEM system, installed by a pro. It took him more than an hour, having to remove trim panels, etc. but it works like a charm.

Like mentioned, either the OEM or the aftermarket harnesses work great. Each system has it's pros/cons but either one when done correctly, will work flawlessly.

I used the Canadian OEM which seems the best of all worlds. No tapping into wires, no insulation damaged. You have to insert the power pin into an existing harness, and you have to thread the 4 flat wires in from the outside before you snap them into their connector. No running a separate power line to the battery.

The included bracket fits the holes that Studum suggests.

Mm.. no need to tap with the Canadian OEM, sounds like a good option. I will have to look into that!

It took me one hour to install the Draw-Tite hitch.

It took me two hours to install the Canadian wiring and mount the 4-flat connector.
