Quick question folks. I have a 2006 Mazda 3 2.3L with 144K on her and the other day while changing the top hat on my passenger side strut, I noticed some wet oil gathered around what looks to be the timing cover. I'll post some photos for your viewing pleasure but I'm curious to know what all is entailed with fixing this, and is it indeed the timing cover gasket that's the culprit here? Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to thoroughly clean the oil and then keep a close eye on where it is coming from? If the culprit gasket is easy to replace, then it would be a no-brainer but some leaking gasket replacements are not worth the effort, depending on how long you plan to keep your car and what other issues are prevalent.
