Exhaust from front to back.

2002 Mazda Protege 5
I just had my engine rebuilt on my 2002 Protege 5. The mechanic told me my Cat was plugged, so he put a hole through it so the exhaust could flow...However I know it needs to be replaced, have had an idea that it needed it for awhile.

So my thought and desire is to put in a header, and run new exhaust all the way back.

This is the header a friend suggested. http://www.protuninglab.com/hdb-mp01.html

but what about the rest of the exhaust? any suggestions? I don't want it loud like the racers.

Also, does anyone know of a good shop in San Antonio, TX??

I have headers already, I'm planning on doing the magnaflow cat back and replacing the stock cat with a Flowmaster 2.25" universal unit. My local muffler shop will weld it on for a cool $75, plus the $70 for the cat makes it cheaper than a whole new midpipe.

ok, I got this header https://www.protuninglab.com/hdc-mp01.html however I think as NaturalFlavored mentioned *not sure to mine or the other guys suggestion* the EGR did not bolt up...the pipe is just about 2 inches shy.....will I be best to get a manufactured extension or is there one that I can get for a direct fit???

on the side note I did cut out the first cat....so now it just has the lower one..
