Mazda Protege5 Hatchback
Hey guys so I'm a 13 year old mazda protege5 owner. just this week I let go of my p5 for a brand new 17 Mazda 3 GT hatchback! exhaust wise it's stock (of course it is lol) Im planning to get a 2011-2013 mazdaspeed 3 OEM exhaust but with 3" piping!! would this work?? (2017 3 has the same motor as 2015/16) let me know!!

Remember that your driveline's output torque curve may change enough so that low-end torque is weaker. If your stock exhaust is 2.25 or even 2.5 inches, 3.0 inches is overkill unless you are planning to somehow add 50 horsepower or more. The MSP3 has what, 260 HP vs your 185 HP? If you want to enhance acceleration, get rid of the boat anchor wheels. My 18-inch Enkei Racing PF01 wheels each weigh just a bit over 17 lbs. The OEMs were 27 lbs each. I feel like my car has gained at least 20-30 HP.

Even if the 2011-2013 Mazdaspeed 3 (second generation; BL platform based on Ford C1) and the 2015-2017 Mazda 3 (third generation; BM SkyActiv platform) have compatible exhaust manifolds (despite having unrelated engines: Speed3 has 2.3L MZR turbo; BM GT has SKYACTIV-G 2.5), they have different bodies. It seems unlikely that any of the exhaust system would be exactly interchangeable.
