Did anyone receive the letter from mazda and the NHTSA about the recall for the passenger air bag in the cx-9?

What year?

This reminds me to try and figure out how the passenger airbag works when my dog jumps into the front seat. I would hope that it stays off when it only detects 50 pounds or so, but I have a feeling it's turning on.

Anyone know how to disable the passenger airbag when necessary?

I believe in the manual you can find such information.... the passenger airbag can be disabled

Yes, 2012 CX-9. It's the Takata air bag issue. Eventually they will replace the faulty component. There is a Mazda website about the issue. It's a greater problem in hot and humid regions than in dryer colder regions. I'm in the lowest risk zone. Mazda advise not to let anyone sit in the front passenger seat - like that's going to happen!
