2016 CX-9 Signature Brake Issue

Twice in the last two weeks my wife has had the brakes "underperform" in a most unpleasant manner. Brake pedal felt hard and fully depressed but the car slowed poorly taking 15-20 more feet to stop than normal.

Once it happens everything seems normal. Around freezing both times but roads were dry.

Anyone else experiencing this? Have any advice on how to convey the problem to the service department?

Thanks,
Dave

Not a mechanic, but when another brand car experienced those symptoms a lot of forums pointed to poor vacuum in brake booster.

When the radar cruise control is automatically braking the car the pedal feels hard. Is that what happened? More braking from the driver's foot is no problem, it just may take more push--or the same push with a different feel, I'm not sure.

I experienced a problem like this, but at the same time there was a noise like air escaping from somewhere whenever I pressed the brake pedal. At the end it was the brake booster that neede to be replaced.
