2016 CX-9 Ignition staying on

Howdy, got a head scratcher. Took it into the dealer and they too don't know what happened.

Any ideas, or similar experience guys?

Happened half a dozen times in a few days about a month ago.

TLDW: Turn off car, and ignition stays on. See video.

Thanks!

Very odd. How about pressing the START/STOP button for more than 1/2 second. Seems like you're doing a light tap? Any difference holding it down for a good 1 or 2?

I find that mine does that when I'm in a hurry and open the driver door prior to turning the car off or I don't depress the button completely. If that isn't the case it may be something else.

My 3 month old 2020 CX5 does the same thing and it is really frustrating. I've tried different things, from turning everything (AC, radio, etc) off, to having my foot off the brake, having my foot on the brake, pressing lightly, having the key fob right near the switch, nothing works. It happens randomly and then I go through this whole idiot routine of pressing the start once with my foot off the brake to supposedly reset the switch position, then starting the car, then turning it off, I go through that several times and finally the ignition doesn't light up and beep when I'm done. To me, this feels like an inherent Mazda flaw with the ignition switch settings. Anyone had any luck getting this fixed?

When you have your door open, it will have that message. Mine does that. Just close your door and it'll turn off.
