2017 CX-9 GS-L
Just ordered a 2017 CX-9... I do a lot of mountain biking and am often wet and muddy after a ride. Was hoping to get some seat covers to put on the driver and passenger seats that will fit the CX-9's seats well and will also be durable/waterproof enough to protect the seats. Any recommendations? thanks

I got some inexpensive covers made to protect the seats from the dogs, which do a good job when I'm wet or dirty.

They don't look all that great, don't fit very well, and aren't super-easy to take off and put back on, but they do the job. I would almost prefer something that was more like a machine-washable towel with a waterproof backing, that would just fit over the headrest, hang down over the seat and be easy to put on and remove. Something to quickly throw on when it's needed, but lives quietly in a small compartment when it's not needed.

Mine are just hard enough to take off that I leave them on all the time (which means passengers get to sit in a seat full of sand and dog scruff) but just temporary-looking enough that they kind of ruin the whole point of having a nice interior.

I actually ended up buying some cheap ones: http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/glovebox-pvc-seat-cover-0326043p.html#srp

They aren't perfect but they are good enough for my purposes. The seat backs on the CX-9 are a little tall for these but they still stay on properly when you are sitting on them. Plus they look pretty normal when attached (they are black leather looking - the same as the normal seats). For only $35/each I am happy I bought them. Easy to put on and take off too - I just throw them in the slot underneath the trunk when I am not using them.

A friend got Coverking seat covers for his new CX-5 and he loves them because he doesn't mind hiding his fabric seats.

I like my CX-9's leather seats and want to have covers that go on and come off easily. Even the dog-style seat covers I have are too much of a hassle to install and remove on a daily basis. And, they don't really do a great job of staying in place.

What I really want is something that I can quickly throw over the seats and then take off easily when it's time to pick up guests for dinner. Maybe I should just be using canvas tarps.

I keep a few beach towels in my car for this purpose, and also a larger fleece blanket if I or a passenger are really messy.

Why oh why do they sell these in Australia but not in the US?

I'll call my local Mazda parts dept and see if they can order them.

I messaged the Australian dealer on eBay selling these (or they were 6 months ago, the last time I looked) and he said not to order the second row for US/Canadian vehicles, because the Australian second row is a mirror image of the USA/Canadian second row (probably due to the Australian vehicles having the steering wheel on the right instead of left). The front row covers should work OK though. I never did order them due to the high cost.
