2012 CX-9 radio cutting in/out

I live in San Diego, CA. Some time last year (2016) when I would get into the car while it was parked facing the sun, the radio would cut in and out. Did not matter which band was being played radio, Satellite, or CD. It would play and cut out for a few seconds, come back in, and repeat. I figured it was heat related because I would crank the AC for a bit and eventually it would stop and the "Radio" would play normally. I brought it to the Deal's attention, but when I would bring it in, the cutting out would have stopped. They weren't aware of the issue. Well today it is 77 and it started again.

Has anyone else run into this? Since it is heat related, is it the unit itself? Console should last more than 4 years...no??
