A couple people here say it rides rough. Are you kidding me? They must not have ever driven a car that's been lowered or is truly just stiff.

Indeed. Couldnt agree more.
I went to my first CX5 4 years ago from what you guys in the US would probably know as the Chevy SS - which was made here in Aus by GM's Australian division GMHolden and we call it a Commodore SS. Its brother in V6 form called the Commodore SV6. Had a few of them in recent years too. Sports suspension, rear wheel drive, IRS, and 20" low profile rubber.
It was nice to find a SUV that drives and handles really nicely. Not as sharp and pointy as the SS of course, but you wouldnt expect that. But neither does it shake the bones on a rough surface like the SS or the SV6 did.
I think the CX5 has got a really good handling, ride and performance compromise. Only my subjective opinion, of course!
Its funny how people perceive "ride" comfort.
My main passion is fishing and boating. Ive been in and driven dozens of different trailer boats, and never cease to be amazed - brand "A" is claimed by one individual to have a rough ride and some even call it a bone crusher.... ive then driven it and found it to be one of the best riding hulls around - driven sensibly and to the conditions.
Brand B that quite a few of my mates have, reputed to have a gread ride - frankly, you need to wear a kidney belt in any sorts of seas to keep your internal organs, well, inside your body!
One of my mates who owns a 21 ft Brand B came for a ride offshore in my 18 ft Brand A and remarked at how smoothly it rode and how well it handled some quite bumpy seas. He may not have noticed that i was travelling about 5 knots slower than he would have been in his boat.....
So, I put most of these claims down to the driver, and in some cases an inability, or perhaps a subconscious unwillingness, to adjust their driving style to the vehicle/boat in the first instance, and then to the road/sea conditions.
I would bet that I could blindfold anyone, take them for a ride in my CX5 and have them complain about the rough ride. If I drove it like i was still driving my SS or SV6!
And then take them out again, tell them its a different car, drive the CX5 like it shoild be driven, and have them say what a confortable ride it has.
