Should I get 'early' oil change?

It is. More and more companies are doing this with more and more systems as the technology improves. Hell there are cars out today that tell you not to flush the radiator for 100,000 miles.

Manufacturers not recommending trans fluid changes goes back to the old Chrysler Torqueflites of the early 60s as one example and perhaps earlier with other manufacturers. Has nothing to do with newer technology. Everybody's always coming out with new and improved fluids that are supposed to be good forever. But the car manufacturer is only on the hook for the duration of the warranty.
