Just got a 2015 CX-9 Grand Touring in Titanium Flash Mica (pics).

If you've seen my other threads in the appearance forum you've seen the truck already. Here is the story of the purchase though, didn't start well but had an happy ending.

A week and half ago we had only two Mazda 3's (the wife and my son), I had a Silver 2012 Chevy Traverse (I always buy 1 year old with under 20,000 miles) which I actually loved. You always buy the extended warranty with an American which we did in 2013 but it had a $100 deductible. Last year it went back to the dealer 13 times for repairs, $100 each time. The final straw, in 2014 the timing chain was slapping the timing cover so they had to pull the motor, $100 deductible which was the major repair BUT it started to make that noise again 2 weeks ago. The wife had enough and said I needed to buy a CX-9.

I was not allowed to buy Silver, Black or Grey since that's the only colors I buy so was on the lookout for something different. Well I found this color Titanium Flash Mica and was intrigued. It changes colors, its so odd. It's usually a bronze color in the day and charcoal at night (see pics below in fluorescent lighting, it's grey). I'm a car guy, I was ASE Certified for 16 years and worked for an auto parts Manufacturer as a Sales / Marketing Rep during that time. I made the worst rookie mistake ever, I found the truck I wanted during dusk, I test drove it with the sun down and bought it at 9PM at night. NEVER EVER EVER DO THIS! I bought it from the dealership I always do and their cars are superb so I was confident it was great.

I drove it home and found some things wrong with the ride, the brakes were pulsating (during the test drive never had in on the highway, another rookie mistake) there was some rattling coming from the rear. The next day in the day light I went over the cover with a fine tooth comb and I realized this had to go back. The rear bumper was loose which was the rattle. The Grand Touring rims had this black spray on the spokes and the front rims were dark and the rear were light (couldn't see this in the dark the night before). All the factory tint was in horrible shape.

I called my salesman told him I wanted to return the car and he said come in now my General Manager is here. I took the truck in and 3 guys in suits were waiting outside. We went over the truck and they were so embarrassed all this was missed that they decided to make it right. Leave the truck here, take a CX-9 rental until it was completely fixed. Keep in mind I've never taken back a plate of food before let alone a truck.

They had the rims sent out and redone which came out beautiful. Put new rotors all the way around. They removed the crappy tint, put on new tint and even tinted the front doors to match for my troubles. They fixed the rear bumper and polished the truck to a mirror. I put 600 miles on the rental before picking up my CX-9.

Here it is the day I got it home. This week I installed the LED fog light bulbs, LED light interior kit and LED license plate bulbs. I'm just waiting for the LED reverse bulbs and everything is done.

Good story and good upgrade of the lights. The LED's are so much brighter and put out so much less heat too! I did my Speed 3 and am now doing my CX-9 and CX-5.

Thanks Dave! For $18 it's also one of the cheapest mods to do.

All I'm waiting for his the LED reverse bulbs and it'll be complete.

So it's been almost 3 weeks since buying the truck and I absolutely love it.
